Historical Significance: The first edition was in 1964. The book is dedicated to Conrad Berens. Dr Louis Girard MD was from the Contact Lens Section, Baylor University. College of Medicine. Conrad Berens (1889-1963) was a well respected US trained eye surgeon who worked at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary from 1913 for his working life and lectured in the New York University Department of Opthalmology and was Profesor of Clinical Ophthalmology.
