Historical Significance: This is the centenary history of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. The first beginnings of the hospital date back to 1863 when it began in rented premises at 2 Albert St East Melbourne. Note: a later history has been published being Peter Donovan 'Ornament to the City: the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital' Melbourne; Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital 1992. See Cat No 1771.
