Historical Significance: Arthur Hall Keeney MD (1920-1996) was a noted Louisville ophthalmologist who served as Dean of the University of Louisville medical school and professor of ophthalmology from 1973 to 1981. He wrote a number of books including 'Dyslexia; diagnosis and treatment of reading disorders' 1968; 'Dictionary of ophthalmic optics' 1995; 'Guide to visual aids and illumination' 1974; ' Chronology of ophthalmic development; an outline summary of the anatomical and functional development of the visual mechanism before and after birth' 1951 and 'Lens materials in the prevention of eye injuries' 1957.
