Historical Significance: Dr. Harold Stein is a Canadian ophthalmologist and the author of 20 or so books. He was a clinical professor at the University of Toronto Medical School. He was among the very first in North America to practice laser vision correction. He was trained by Dr. Stephen Trokel, the inventor of the Excimer laser. Three lectureships 'The Harold Stein Lecture' have been created by organizations in Canada and the U.S. named in his honour. The donor, Bill Swordy, was an optical dispenser with Coles & Garrard and later OPSM. Other editions with slightly varying titles were published in 1988, 2000 and 2006.
