Historical Significance: First published 1937, numerous reprintings, with a second edition 1950. The author also published on slit lamp microscopy (1936) and gonioscopy (1946), which was co-authored with Ida Mann. It is credited with bringing about the widespread clinical adoption of gonioscopy. Manuel Troncoso (1867- 1959) was Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology Mexico National School of Medicine 1915-1916 and was is Mexico's best known ophthalmologist but he migrated to the USA in 1916.
