Description Of Item: Original red cloth, 530 pages, 95 figures on 82 full page colour plates. Old library stamp for VOA.
Historical Significance: First published 1937, numerous reprintings, with a second edition 1950. The author also published on slit lamp microscopy (1936) and gonioscopy (1946), which was co-authored with Ida Mann. His book on gonioscopy is rated as one of the most significant books of the 20th C see http://webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu/dept/20thCenturyBooks/100Books.htm. It is credited with bringing about the widespread clinical adoption of gonioscopy. Manuel Troncoso (1867- 1959) was Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology Mexico National School of Medicine 1915-1916 and was is Mexico's best known ophthalmologist but he migrated to the USA in 1916.
