Description Of Item: Unmatched set. Vol 1 Original navy blue cloth covers, 417 pages plus advertisements, illustrated. Vol 2 Original navy blue cloth covers (4th ed on spine), 403 pages plus advertisements, illustrated.
Historical Significance: CH Brown is medically qualified and is described on the title page as Professor of Optics and Refraction at an unstated university but possibly the University of Pennsylvania since he is described as a graduate of that University, a former physician at the Philadelpia Hospital and a member of the medical society in that State. The Book was originally published as a serial publication in "The Keystone" starting in May 1890. The first edition in one volume was published in 1897. "The Keystone" is styled on the title page as the organ of the Jewelry and Optical Trades. See also Cat No. 62 and 141.
