Historical Significance: Charles Wright (1912-2003) was a South Australian optometrist with a great interest in history. He was the official historian of the Australian Optometrists Association and wrote this book on the history of the optometry in Australia that was published by the Association. It is an invaluable source of historical information. Wright was also active in community affairs and was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1977. His obituary is Charles Wright AM Clin Exp Optom 2003; 86: 413. Picture is his portrait by Robert Hannaford held by the Federal Office of the OAA
