Historical Significance: This was an useful book for Australian optometry students at the time Australian optometrists were starting to use diagnostic drugs. It was written by a practising UK optometrist. UK optometrists could use diagnostic drugs but not many did not, so the book was influential in the UK also. It was first published in 1972 by the British Optical Association. There was a third edition in 1989. It continues under a new name Ophthalmic drugs : diagnostic and therapeutic uses (1998 and 2007) under joint authorship.
