Historical Significance: Ernest Jabara was the foundation First Vice President of the Australian College of Optometry who resigned in April 1942 because he had lost the confidence of the Council. Barry Cole was the Director of the College form 1964 to 1999. Ronald Griffiths was a Melbourne optometrist who was a member of Council from June 1945 to September 1947. JA Richards was the legal advisor to the College in its foundation years. There are other collections of papers that relate to Jabara and the turbulence he caused during his brief chairmanship of the Council and the opposition group The Optometric Education Reform Society he founded in the years after his resignation from Council.
