Description Of Item: Squat green glass eye bath. Base marked 'OPHTHALMIC GLASS' and 'OPTABS' between two arrowheads. This eye bath was supplied by Wood Bros of Barnsley, Yorkshire as their eye bath design 53a. H:34mm x W:43mm.
Historical Significance: The 'Optabs' trademark was registered in November 1939 for soluble tablets to prepare fresh eye lotion. In 1970 the glass eye bath was superseded by a plastic design.
