Description Of Item: Block (135 x 60 mm) of eight mint 18 cent Australian postage stamps commemorating Griffith Taylor Geographer waearing glaases
Historical Significance: This stamp was produced in the Famous Australians series of 1978. Griffith Taylor (1880-1963) was born in England and came to Australian in 1893 where he researched and wrote about geography, anthropology and exploration. This stamp has been added to the Kett Museum because it is one of few stamps depicting persons wearing glasses. The glasses in this example appear to be mid 20th century metal round eye with shell covering of the eye rims and temples.
