Description Of Item: Dynascope, dynamic retinoscope: cased hand-held self-illuminating instrument with black metal head and white enamel and chrome metal handle for D-cell batteries. 4 fixation targets of letters or shapes can be rotated into view. Black leather-covered wooden case with hinged lid (hinges repaired), snap catch and blue velvet and silk lining. 'DYNASCOPE' embossed in gold letters on case. Case: 60 x 298 x 60 mm
Historical Significance: The Turville-Pascal Dynascope of 1931 was collaboratively designed by A E Turville, a British optometrist, and J I Pascal who was born in Lithuania and was both an optometrist and ophthalmologist and taught in the USA.
