This is his only publication. He is famous for his great collections in the fields of botany and his interests in pharmacy. He bequeathed his library and collections to the British nation and they became the foundation of the British Museum. The first edition of this booklet was published in 1745 and the second in about 1750. The recipe of the medicine is to 'take of prepared Tutty, one ounce, of Lapis Haematites prepared, twelve grains, of prepared pearl, four grains ... mix them in a porhyry or marble mortar with a pessle of the same stone with a quantity of Viper's grease or fat to make a linament, to be used daily.'
