Historical Significance: This is an excellent early edition of an influential and widely used text book. John Parsons (1868 - 1957) was a distinguished British ophthalmologist who concentrated on understanding the pathology of eye disease. This book was widely used by ophthalmologists in training and by optometry students in the 1950s particularly. It ran to many ediitions, the first being in 1907 and continued as Parsons' Diseases of the Eye with other authors. The 18th edition was by Stephen Miller and published in 1990.
