It is postmarked on the day of issue of the stamps 20 January 2006 at Moonee Ponds with a spectacle shaped postmark Historical Significance: These stamps were issued in the Australian legends series. John Barry Humphries, AO, CBE (born 17 February 1934) is an international known Australian comedian, satirist, artist, and author. Humphries is best known for writing and playing his on-stage and television alter egos Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson. The stamps were acquired by the Kett Museum because his Dame Edna character wears specially designed outrageous spectacles. The Museum hold souvenir replicas of these spectacles Cat No 2075 and 2184.
