Description Of Item: Colour photograph 201 mm W x 151 mm H (Image 102 mm H) of the staff of the Victorian College of Optometry at the end of 2007. Bottom of photograph has the College crest and the words 'VCO staff 2007' with a copyright claim '(c) Victorian College of Optometry 2008. On the back is pasted a sheet carrying the names of the staff[2 copies]
Historical Significance: A photograph of the VCO staff was taken before the annual end of year Christmas party on a number of occasions. See also Cat No 543 for the year 2000 and also the VCO annual report for 1997 for another staff photograph. This is a photograph of the staff of the Victorian College of Optometry taken in December 2007. This was the year Professor McBrien stood down as Director of the College in February. He continued as Head of the Department of Optometry and Vsion Sciences of the Univertsity of Melbourne but this broke the arrangment in place since 1973 under which the Head of the Department was also the Director of the College. Mitchell Anjou was appointed acting Director of the College for 2007 and he is pictured in the front row on the right. Normally the Director is seated in the middle of the front row of seats in these end-of year photographs but Mr Anjou is an unassuming man and chose not occupy this position People in the photograph include Heather Johnston, Barry Cole, Paul Martin, Guido Tomasisch Ian Douglas, Ryan Rosario, Neville Turner, Vivian Botherway, Sue Kalff and Piers Carrozzi Official end of year photographs of the staff of the Victorican College of Optometry are at Cat No 543 (2000), 1179 (2007) an 1651 (1997).
