Description Of Item: Black and white photograph 25.5 x 20.3 cm with 6 mm white border depicting the Victorian College of Optometry buildings in Cardigan Street Carlton c 1970. 2 copies and a photograph that is very similar taken at the same time (Labelled 1199 Copy 2)
Historical Significance: This picture shows the 1960 College building on the right and three terrace houses one of which was purchased by the College in 1956. The other two were bought in 1970 together with the one story cottage on the left for $39,500 after prolonged negotiations by the then Secretary of the College. Miss Jean Colledge. The cottage was demolished to build the National Vision Research Institute in 1974.
