Description Of Item: Strip of three contact lenses 93 x 42 x 1 mm with the parameters of the lens and the words 1 day flat pack (hioxifilcon A) and the Menicon trade mark and name printed on the face. Expiry Date 2018/02. The reverse is printed with one of ten abstract designs.
Historical Significance: Initially released in Japan in November 2001 as Magic daily disposable contact lenses. Released in Australia in September 2012 as Miru Daily Disposable Contact Lenses. These lenses introduced a new packaging design developed by Steve Newman. The lens is contained in a 1mm thick pack and when opened the lens is presented with the outer surface face up to ensure correcct insertion. The lenses were supplied in boxes containin 10 strips of three lenses in a more compact form than any other disposable contact lens. Miru is the Japanese word for seeing.
