Description Of Item: Joined pair of colour photographs each 10.1 x 10.2 cm of Mr Peter Dwyer OAM speaking at the 50th anniversary dinner of the Victorian College of Optometry. Stamp for the photographer on the back with code numbers for the photographs.
Historical Significance: The College was founded on December 29 1939 when its Memorandum and Articles of Association were signed by the founding members and its certificate of incorporation was signed on February 5 1940. Its 50th anniversary was celebrated by a gala dinner held in the Melbourne Conference Centre on May 23 1990. See report in the VCO annual report for 1990. The speakers included one graduate from each decade of the 50 years. Peter Dwyer OAM spoke for the 1960s. Peter Dwyer was very active in professional affairs serving on the OAA Victorian Division Council and as its President and also as Chairman of the Optometrists Registration Board of Victoria.
