Historical Significance: The College was founded on December 29 1939 when its Memorandum and Articles of Association were signed by the founding members and its certificate of incorporation was signed on February 5 1940. Its 50th anniversary was celebrated by a gala dinner held in the Melbourne Conference Centre on May 23 1990. See report in the VCO annual report for 1990. The speakers included one graduate from each decade of the 50 years. Mr Morris spoke for the pre-college optometrists. Mr Morris qualified with his FVOA in 1941. Mr Morris was President of the Vic Div of the OAA 1975-1978. He was made an honorary life member of the OAA in 1980. He was a councillor of the College from 1947 to 1955.
