Historical Significance: The first edition was (probably) published in 1897. This book is of interest because it is directed to teaching GPs how to sight test and a time when optometrists were first able to undertake formal training through the Worshipful Company of Spectacle makers and the British Optical Association. The author is presumably a woman but she addresses her book to 'medical men only'. Many of the illustrations are for optometrical equipment marketed by the author and are advertised with prices.
