Historical Significance: This is a basic textbook on refraction and fitting glasses with chapters on eye physiology and diseases, muscular asthenopia and heterophoria. It also has a chapter on higher prisms as an aid in the treatment of incurables. Edmund Allen has the qualifications of MD and PhD. A second copy of this book (Cat No 600) is held in the books of historical note collection in the Archives room.
