Historical Significance: E Wood FIO FBOA (London) was a prominent Melbourne optometrist who practised at 95 Elizabeth Street Melbourne (pictured). The pamphlet claims the practice to have been established 100 years (in 1818). The front cover claims 'By special appointment to His Excellency the Governor of NSW' and in addition to the Melbourne address the front cover implies that it also has offices in London, Liverpool and Sydney. Picture is of Elizabth Street from Flinders Street c1900. The content covers the eye as an optical instrument, testing the eyes, myopia, hypermetropia, presbyopia, astigmatism, cataract, strabismus, asthenopia, reading by artifical light, spectacle and eye-glass frames and colour blindness.
