Description Of Item: Four clinic bulletins, duplicated typescript on foolscap size paper , each multiple pages, stapled. The issues are: Vol 1 No 1 March 1952, Vol 1 No 2 September 1952, Vol 1 No 3 November 1952, Vol 2 No 1 October 1954. All have John Nathan's signature. Also included is a single foolscap typewritten page of four verses of student doggeral 'Laborabimus ad nauseum' about students (named) of the time with satirical lines about advertising, ethics and shopticians.
Historical Significance: Authors of articles are John Nathan, Margaret Lindo, J Knox Walker, AS Kerner, B Isaacs, C(?) Cockburn, Brian Flynn, Geoff Henry and a number of anon. John Nathan was clinic director 1947-1949 and Director of Studies 1950 to 1984. He probably initiated this bulletin. He was the first LOSc diplomate of the College in 1944 and the third President of the College from 1970 to1978. He taught as a highly respected part time teacher for over 30 years and one of the team of three who started research in the Victorian College of Optometry in 1961. He was awarded an honorary DSc degree by the University of Melbourne in 1994.
