Historical Significance: Theodore Frank SCHLAEGEL (1916-2008) was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine and Professor Emeritus after his retirement. He attended Pennsylvania State College of Optometry in 1934. He then switched to Indiana University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1939. He went on to attend Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 1942. Dr. Schlaegel held the appointments of assistant Professor of Ophthalmology from 1949 to 1959, Director of Research in the Department of Ophthalmology from 1954-1959, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology from 1968-1986. He was best known for his extensive research and specialization in uveitis. This book is of interest insofar as few books have been written on this subject.
