Historical Significance: This was the classic text book on the anatomy of the eye for most of the 20th C. The first edition was published in 1933. The editions of 1961 and 1976 were co-authored after his death by RJ Last and R Warwick. It was titled Eugene Wolff's Anatomy of the eye from 1968. Eugene Wolff (1896-1954) was a British ophthalmic surgeon in North London. He was educated and worked in England but born in South Africa. He wrote 'Anatomy for Artists' in 1925 when he was an anatomy demonstrator. He wrote 'Pathology of the Eye' in1934. See his obit Br J Ophthalmol. 1954 April; 38(4): 253-256.
